Phil Sokol  > Travel > Myanmar 0112
An intensive (and intense!) 12 day workshop with professional photographer Scott Stulberg. A military dictatorship for over 40 years, travel to Myanmar has been possible in the past, but only now is the country really starting to open up. Huge numbers of political prisoners have been freed, and Aung Song Suu Kyi, a Nobel Prize-winning democracy activist long under house arrest, is now running in the country's first "open" elections in decades. The Myanmar people are genuine, friendly, truly excited about what's happening in their country and are eager to share it. It's on the "Travel Radar" in a big way, so get there quick! We were only able to hit the highlights: the capital Yangon, the ancient city of Bagan, legendary Mandalay and the picturesque Inle Lake, but I'm clear there is so much more to see. An absolutely amazing country!
